There’s loads of posters on here you could say that to you div….. it’s a football discussion forum…..yet you’re not being controversial….

Re: Antonio
I’m not trying to be confrontational SOH but why do you go on endlessly about the football when you never go?

I don’t either but that’s only because I live abroad. I’d have a season ticket if I could

Re: Antonio
The money often isolated striker role he gets asked to play should be banned from football that’s how great he’s been…..

A great servant of this club - knocking on legend status for me.

Jesus there’s some weird opinions on here. Most accurate though is goose’s. Let’s not forget that there was a lot of interest in him last January window…

Re: Antonio
The obvious replacement would be Ivan Toney but there’s clearly no way that is going to happen now. Will probably sign another one season wonder who can’t do what Antonio does.

Re: Antonio
Antonio won’t be sold as he is the only ST we have that can play the Moyes way.

If Moyes was going I would say let him move on but that looks unlikely.

What we need to sign is a natural ST in the Antonio mould.

They are out there but we seem to always look at others.

Our two most successful ST in recent years are/were not even Strikers. Antonio and Arnie.

Re: Antonio
works his just off most games, and often does a thankless task. it must be the worst footballing job in the world being a striker in moyes system, yet he gets on with it

Re: Antonio
I like the bloke, made the most of his attributes physical and football - if most of our signings in his time applied as much to the cause as him we would have achieved far more

Granted, no Van Basten reincarnate, but he never would be

My lasting memory of the bloke will be a quote from a broadsheet journo not long after he appeared that went along the lines of

'He gets the ball and just runs, not sure he knows where and the defenders definitely don't - he is just like a run away shopping trolley'

Made me smile and still does

I remember John Paintsil's solo lap at UP.

Says it all really.

Re: Antonio
goose - Reading through the thread those odd opinions are in the minority. Overall he has done very well for us considering his length of service, transfer fee and a very decent goal record. That isn't even an opinion, it's a simple fact.

Crassus - Yep, I think he will go too, and it is the right time now.

Re: Antonio
Some incredibly odd opinions on here.

Terrible? No.
Terribly effective sometimes.

His goal scoring record as a striker is pretty decent and stands up to most outside the top 6. Double figures 3 seasons in a row is respectable.

Not many can play the role he plays so effectively.

Crassus 10:55 Sun May 28
Re: Antonio
Been saying for a while, he has Everton written all over him, if they survive

Last game for us in Prague would be my bet

Re: Antonio
Eerie totally right.

The fact we've had to rely on him and not signed anyone e better is an indictment

Re: Antonio
Antonio has been great for us. Some vital and memorable goals and some great performances.
Yes forms dipped sometimes.

But really to be our top PL era striker he shouldn't get too much flack.
We've had better for sure but on his day he's almost unplayable.

Re: Antonio
Antonio is a terrible PL striker

No he's not. He's a right winger and a very good one always has been until our dickhead managers Bilic tried to turn him into a wing back and Moyes into a striker. Round pegs square holes...

Re: Antonio
I think Ings coming in gave him a bit of a wake up call and he has been one of our best players since then, the guy has put some huge shifts in as well during the last few months.

Re: Antonio
Antonio does what he’s asked to do very well.

Can’t please everyone, but I used to think we had a knowledgeable fanbase.

Re: Antonio
I've always been shocked of the hate Antonio has on here, then you bizarrely have the same cunts in love with Mr invisible from Italy who has done fuck all for us. but it's just words typed out on a forum with about 40 posters at the end of the day, so ultimately meaning sweet fuck all.
